TWIGO FLOOR 4 is a floor lamp built from a black steel stem and four arms clamped to it in two crossing pairs. Each arm ends in a black E27 lampholder with no shade, and the whole thing stands on a flat rectangular base plate.

How much room it takes

The lamp is 160 cm tall and its base covers 43 × 43 cm of floor. That is the figure to compare with the free space beside an armchair or a sofa — the plate is flat, so it slides under the edge of a rug, but not under a piece of furniture.

The arms sit in the upper part of the stem and reach out sideways, so the lamp is distinctly wider at the top than at its base. When placing it, allow clearance on each side rather than only room for the plate.

Four arms, each set separately

The arms are clamped to the stem with collars, and the manufacturer states that the angle of each one can be adjusted. The four light points can therefore be spread evenly all round or turned the same way — over an armchair, at a wall, towards the middle of the room.

What lamps it needs

The fitting has four E27 lampholders and arrives without lamps, so four have to be bought to put it into use. The manufacturer gives a maximum of 60 W per lamp — an upper limit that must not be exceeded, not the luminaire's consumption; with four light points that is worth keeping in mind when choosing power.

There is no shade here: the lamps burn uncovered and are visible from the room, so their shape and colour are part of how the lamp looks. A decorative lamp with a visible filament behaves differently here from an opal globe, and the light colour is chosen along with them.

Build

Stem, arms, lampholders and base are metal in a single black finish. The lamp is powered from a socket by a cable led out of the base across the floor, and it is made in Poland. The TWIGO collection carries the same arm arrangement in a two-arm version as well, and as a pendant and a wall light.
