The Choppy Basket is a round BAZAR BIZAR basket, hand-woven from water hyacinth in a natural light brown. The fibre runs in a pronounced diagonal weave, and the top edge is finished with a thick, rolled rim. The basket is open — it has no lid and no handles.
How big the basket is
It measures 36 cm in diameter and 31 cm in height. The maker gives children's toys as an example of what it can hold; compare these dimensions with whatever you plan to put inside and with the spot on the floor or shelf where the basket will stand.
What it is made of and how to care for it
The basket is made by hand in Indonesia from water hyacinth, a plant fibre, so the shade and the run of the weave can differ slightly from piece to piece.
The maker intends it for indoor use only. Dust comes off with a soft cloth or brush, and occasional cleaning needs only a little moisture followed by thorough drying. Keep the basket out of wet or humid places, where the fibre can weaken or go mouldy.
