ZALMONTE is a floor lamp 119 cm tall and 33 cm across, woven all over in water hyacinth and seagrass. The silhouette narrows at top and bottom and swells at mid-height; the weave is close at both ends and open through the middle. The lamp stands on a round wooden base.
The open weave and what it does to the light
The middle of the body is see-through — the weave forms regular openings that let the light out sideways. Lit, the lamp is therefore not an even glowing surface: it throws a repeating pattern of shadow and bright points onto the wall and ceiling, while the weave itself stays visible against the lightened background.
The tightly woven bands top and bottom hold the light back, so the output gathers in the middle zone, roughly at the height of an armchair back. Close to, you see the fibre's texture; from across the room, a glowing column.
119 cm tall, and where to stand it
At 119 cm the lamp reaches above the seat and back of most armchairs while staying below the eye level of someone standing. That is the scale for a corner, beside a sofa, or next to a bedroom chest — the maker names the living room and the bedroom specifically.
The base is 33 cm across and the whole lamp weighs 4.9 kg, which with material this light means a weighted foot: it stands steady and will not topple if knocked.
Light source and build
Inside is a single E27 lampholder rated up to 12 W. In practice that limit means an LED lamp — incandescent sources do not come at that wattage. No bulb is supplied, so the colour is yours to choose; against natural fibre, 2700 K brings out its warm, straw-like tone.
The body is water hyacinth and seagrass, the base wood. The material keeps its natural variation in tone — from pale straw to darker brown — so every piece carries a slightly different weave pattern.
