Antigo Yabu 7 Pendant Light White, 7 Tubes GU10, 140 cm Ceiling Bar 7576

Yabu 7 is a pendant light made up of seven slim white tubes hanging on cables from a shared ceiling bar. Each tube is 70 cm long and 4 cm in diameter, and the light leaves its lower end as a downward spot beam. The fitting is made of lacquered steel.

Dimensions and hanging height

The bar is 140 cm long, 2 cm wide and 4 cm high, so only a narrow strip shows on the ceiling. From the ceiling to the bottom of the tubes the light measures at most 200 cm. Each tube's cable is locked in the bar with a screw, so the drop is set separately for each of the seven — the tubes can hang in a straight line or at different heights.

A length of 140 cm suits a longer dining table. With a tabletop at 75 cm, the tube ends usually hang 70–80 cm above it, which under a 260 cm ceiling means a drop of about 105–115 cm from the ceiling — within what the fitting allows.

Which bulbs, and what light

Each tube holds a GU10 lampholder meant for an MR11-size bulb, i.e. 35 mm in diameter; the manufacturer allows an LED of up to 4 W in it, so no more than 28 W for the whole light. A standard 50 mm GU10 bulb will not fit a tube 4 cm across, so look for the MR11 marking when buying. The bulbs are not included.

The spot light falls downwards and clearly lights the surface below the tubes, while the ceiling and walls stay in shadow. The colour of the light comes with the bulbs — above a table usually 2700–3000 K, a warm, slightly yellowish light.

Installation and where it fits

The fitting is protection class I: live, neutral and protective earth conductors are connected in the junction box, and the instructions call for installation by an electrician. The manufacturer gives a 5-year warranty.

The light suits a dining table in a dining or living room, a bedroom, and hotels and restaurants. Stylistically these are minimalist tubes: plain geometry with no ornament, which the Yabu collection extends with surface-mounted lights, spotlights, floor and desk lamps and track versions.
