NUMINOS Spot DALI L is a surface-mounted ceiling luminaire with a cylindrical head 10 cm across, carried on a short arm and a round ceiling plate 10.3 cm in diameter. The head is finished in matt white, the ring around the optic in matt black. The head rotates and tilts, so the direction of the light is set after the fitting is installed.
Size and ceiling mounting
The luminaire is 21.3 cm long and 18 cm high, and the ceiling plate stands 2.9 cm off the ceiling, covering the box together with the wiring connection. The whole assembly weighs 1.202 kg, so fixing it to a plasterboard ceiling needs nothing more than plasterboard anchors.
It mounts onto the surface of the ceiling rather than into a cut-out, which makes it usable where there is no void above the ceiling for a recessed fitting — on a concrete slab, or in a room without a suspended ceiling.
How much light it gives
The built-in LED module delivers 2300 lm at 20 W. The 2700 K colour is a warm, slightly yellow light, and a colour rendering index of Ra 90 means colours look almost as they do in daylight — which matters where the light falls on artwork, a display or a worktop.
The beam is 36 degrees wide, so from a height of 2.5 m it covers a pool roughly 1.6 m across. The optic is set deep inside the cylinder and a unified glare rating of UGR 19 means the source stays out of your eyes at normal viewing angles. The LED module is built into the luminaire; the manufacturer rates it for 50,000 hours.
DALI control
Brightness is controlled over DALI, and the luminaire also accepts Touch control. Dimming needs a DALI bus and a controller or gateway — an ordinary phase dimmer wired into the supply line will not work here. The luminaire runs on 220–240 V.
Build
The body is aluminium, which carries heat away from the LED module. The fitting is built to protection class I, so the circuit needs an earth conductor, and it is rated IP20 — it is intended for dry rooms inside the building.
