NUMINOS SPOT PHASE M is a surface-mounted ceiling spotlight: a matt black aluminium cylinder 8,5 cm across, carried on a round mounting plate 10,3 cm in diameter. The cylinder rotates on its axis and tilts, so the beam is aimed at the chosen spot after the fitting is up. The whole luminaire is 16,5 cm high and the body is 18,5 cm long.

Where and how it is mounted

The 10,3 cm mounting plate screws straight onto the ceiling and covers the connection point. In the M, L and XL sizes the manufacturer allows ceiling mounting only — the wall option exists for the smallest size S.

The fitting is protection class I, so an earth conductor is needed to connect it. The supply is 220-240 V, 50/60 Hz, and the driver sits inside the body. The manufacturer specifies dry indoor use, at an ambient temperature between -20 and +45 °C.

How much light it gives

The spotlight draws 14 W and delivers 1750 lm, which works out at 125 lumens per watt — more light than an old 100 W incandescent bulb gave, for a consumption in the low teens. The 2700 K colour is warm and clearly yellowish, and a colour rendering index above Ra 90 keeps pictures, fabrics and merchandise in their true colours.

The beam angle is 60°, a medium-width beam: the diameter of the lit patch is roughly equal to the distance from the fitting. The light is direct and symmetrical, so this spotlight works as accent lighting rather than as a general ceiling light.

Dimming and service life

The PHASE version dims with a conventional trailing-edge phase dimmer, marked code C on dimmer labelling. The dimmer is not supplied and has to be chosen separately; DALI controllers and retractive push buttons will not drive this version.

The LED is permanently built in and, per the manufacturer's manual, may only be replaced by the manufacturer or its service agent — this is not a bulb you unscrew. The declared service life is 50 000 hours. The luminaire weighs 0,834 kg net and 1,145 kg packed.
