Drive-over in-ground light Rena 1773BL black LED 8.4 W 4000 K - Norlys

The Rena 1773BL is an in-ground luminaire with a round black faceplate (RAL 9005), 13 cm in diameter. Four ribs divide the cover, and light leaves through four side openings, shielded from above. The body is powder-coated cast aluminium and the diffuser is satin, UV-stabilised polycarbonate.

How much light it gives, and what kind

The integrated 8 W LED module produces 933 lm, but only 34 lm leaves the luminaire through the four-sided outlet covered from above. This is not a light for illuminating the whole garden: it lies low across the paving around the cover and marks the edge of a path, a step or a driveway. The manufacturer designs it as an orientation luminaire.

4000 K is neutral white light – cooler than a traditional bulb. A CRI of 80 is enough where the job is guiding the eye rather than rendering colours faithfully. The luminaire is phase-dimmable with a trailing-edge or leading-edge dimmer, bought separately. The LED module is not a lamp you replace yourself – a professional service replaces it, and the manufacturer states an L70 lifetime of more than 59,000 h.

Installation and what you need to buy

The body needs 18.2 cm of depth below the surface. The luminaire sits in a mounting box set into the ground according to the instructions; the box and other accessories are not included and are sold separately. A 1 m H05BQ-F 3G1 cable with a THB.391.R4A.L cable connector leaves the luminaire, so the connection to the installation has to be within its reach.

230 V supply and protection class I mean the circuit must include a protective earth conductor. Installation and servicing are carried out by a suitably qualified person.

Load and durability

The maximum load is 1000 kg, and the manufacturer allows vehicles on pneumatic tyres to drive over it, so it can be built into a surface that a car drives onto. It must not be installed in traffic lanes, where braking, accelerating and turning put horizontal forces on it.

IP68 means it stays sealed even under permanent immersion – in the ground, water stands around the housing after rain. IK09 is a high impact rating for the cover. The gasket is silicone, the cable gland nickel-plated brass, and the luminaire weighs 1.02 kg.
