Drive-Over In-Ground Light NORLYS Rena 1632BL Black RAL 9005 GU10 max 6W IP68 13x13 cm

Rena 1632BL is a square in-ground luminaire with a 13 × 13 cm face and an 18.2 cm installation depth, in black RAL 9005 cast aluminium. It carries a load of up to 1000 kg and is sealed to IP68.

It lights sideways, not at the sky

This is its most important property and also the one that makes it easy to mistake for an ordinary in-ground uplight. Rena 1632 has a four-sided distribution and is closed from the top: the light leaves through four side apertures, not as a column upward. It therefore lights the surface around itself, does not dazzle anyone walking past and does not brighten the sky — the BUG B0-U2-G0 rating confirms it, with G0 meaning no glare and B0 no light thrown backwards. The beam can be adjusted through up to 10°, so the cone can be tilted slightly off vertical.

Drive-over, with a limit

The fitting is built into the surface and rated for vehicles of up to 1000 kg driving over it — but only on pneumatic tyres, and only where a wheel rolls across rather than brakes, pulls away or steers. The manufacturer rules out installation in traffic lanes, because the sideways horizontal forces from hard braking or manoeuvring are destructive to it. The right places are a driveway, a path, a terrace, a strip around the house, a garage entrance.

Sealing and materials

IP68 (1 m) means dust-tight and resistant to continuous immersion to one metre — the level you need where water can stand after a downpour rather than merely wet the fitting in passing. The material set is what delivers it: powder-painted aluminium casting, a silicone gasket, a satin UV-stabilised polycarbonate lens (which will not go dull and yellow in the sun the way ordinary plastic does) and a nickel-plated brass cable gland. The operating range is −20…+45 °C. The manufacturer gives a 5-year warranty and a 25-year anti-corrosion warranty.

You buy the lamp separately

The fitting takes a replaceable GU10 lamp of at most 6 W and is supplied without one — though it can be ordered together with the fitting (Philips MASTER LED ExpertColor 5.5–50 W GU10 930 36D, dimmable). Osram LED Parathom max 6 W ⟺ 50 W PAR16 GU10 is also recommended. With such a lamp the output is about 375 lumens — a figure for the lamp, not the luminaire, and in practice equivalent to the old 50 W halogen. Replaceability is an advantage here: years later you change the lamp, not a fitting buried in the ground.

Installation and accessories

The luminaire is fixed with three ø4.5 mm screws spaced 120° apart on a ø100 mm circle — to its dedicated mounting box or into a suitably prepared hole in timber, which makes it a genuine option for a wooden deck too. The factory H05RN-F 3G1 cable, 3 m long, runs to a connection box; the fitting is protection class I, so the earth conductor must be connected. Bought separately: the connection box (145ZX0009 or 146ZX0009) and the cable shield (143ZX0009). Norlys also stocks spare parts — lens service kit (06155010), gasket (08155000) and front (915500111) — so the fitting is repairable rather than disposable.

Variants

Rena 1632 comes in two standard colours: 1632BL black RAL 9005 (this model) and 1632GR graphite RAL 7016. Other colours follow the Norlys colour template — to order.
