Rena 1631GR is a round drive-over ground light set into the paving: a 13 cm diameter front of die-cast aluminium, powder-coated in graphite RAL 7016 and fixed with four screws, with a satin polycarbonate lens. The body sits 15.7 cm deep in the ground, leaving only a flat, round front at surface level.
How it lights and what it is for
Norlys designs the Rena 1631 as an orientation light. Light leaves through four side slots and the head is closed on top, so it does not shine into people's eyes or at the sky, only onto the surface right next to the fitting (BUG rating B0-U2-G0). A Philips MASTER LED ExpertColor GU10 5.5 W lamp is included, with a 3000 K warm white colour and a colour rendering index of Ra 90. The lamp alone gives 375 lm, while 13 lm leaves the luminaire – the brightness of a marker that traces the edge of a driveway, path or steps, not lighting for a whole area.
The light can be dimmed with a phase dimmer, either trailing edge (TE) or leading edge (LE). During the warranty period the GU10 lamp may only be replaced by an authorised service or the manufacturer.
Where you can drive over it
The light carries loads up to 1000 kg and is rated for vehicles on pneumatic tyres, so a car can roll over it on a driveway. The manufacturer rules out installation in traffic lanes where wheels brake, accelerate or turn, because the horizontal forces this creates can damage the fitting.
IP68 means protection against continuous immersion, so the fitting also copes with water standing in a dip in the paving after rain, while IK10 means it withstands an impact of 20 J. The lens is UV-stabilised, and the seal comes from a silicone gasket and a nickel-plated brass cable gland.
Installation and connection
The front is fixed through three ø4.5 mm holes spaced 120° apart on a ø100 mm circle – into the supplied mounting box, set in the ground following the manufacturer's instructions, or into a suitably prepared hole in timber. It comes with a factory-fitted 1 m H05BQ-F 3G1 cable ending in a THB.391.R4A.L connector. The 145ZX0009 and 146ZX0009 junction boxes are sold separately. It is a protection class I fitting, so it needs an earth connection. It weighs 1 kg.
