FEMESA is a square recessed downlight in a white aluminium body. A black honeycomb louvre sits deep inside the square bezel, and the top of the body is a finned heatsink. Two sprung clips on the flanks hold the fitting in its opening.
How much ceiling it takes
The bezel measures 8.5 Γ 8.5 cm and the whole fitting is 6 cm tall. Those 6 cm go above the ceiling panel, so the void between the suspended ceiling and the slab has to be at least that deep β the first thing to check before cutting the opening.
The clips fold out to the sides and press the fitting down onto the panel from above once it is pushed in, so fitting it needs no screws and no frame. The driver is supplied and hangs on a lead beside the body, and it has to fit above the ceiling too, because the fitting runs on 230 V only through it.
How much light it gives
The LED is built in permanently: it draws 13 W and delivers 635 lm in a 36-degree beam. That is light gathered into a cone rather than spread across a room, so these are laid out on a grid and their output added up, not relied on one at a time.
3000 K is warm white. Ra above 90 means colours read true under it, which matters over a worktop, at a mirror, and anywhere the colour of goods is being judged. The black louvre hides the diode deep in the bezel: the maker states a UGR below 19, the level at which the light does not glare for someone looking at the ceiling from a few metres away. Rated life is 30,000 hours, and the source cannot be replaced β when it is spent, the fitting is.
Where the maker intends it
FEMESA is made for suspended ceilings, and so for offices, office buildings, shops, hotels and restaurants. The form is plain: a white square flush with the ceiling panel, with no frame and no ornament. Luces Exclusivas gives three years of warranty.
