CHINCH is a recessed ceiling luminaire 150 mm across, in matt white. A tilting reflector ring sits inside the round bezel, and the upper part of the body is a vertically finned aluminium heat sink that carries heat away from the LED module.

How much light it gives and what colour

The 40 W LED module puts out 3433 lm. For comparison, the old 60 W incandescent bulb gave about 800 lm, so one of these points replaces four of them — this is a fitting for general lighting rather than for brightening a corner. At 3000 K the light is warm white: clearly warmer than daylight, without the yellow cast that comes with 2700 K.

The maker quotes a CRI above 90, so colours read almost as they do in daylight — which matters wherever the colour of goods, fabric or food has to be right. UGR below 19 is the limit applied to screen-based workstations, so the fitting does not throw a distracting reflection into a monitor. The beam angle is 36 degrees: the light forms a defined circle below the fitting instead of spreading across the room, so covering a larger area takes several units spaced out.

Size, installation and aiming

The body measures 150 mm across and 96 mm deep — that is the clear space needed above the ceiling board. The maker does not publish the cut-out dimension, so it is worth confirming with the seller before buying. The luminaire runs on 230 V.

The inner reflector ring tilts, so the beam can be aimed at a wall, a shelving run or a picture after the fitting is in, without moving the hole itself. IP20 protection limits it to dry interiors — outside bathroom protection zones and outside any outdoor position.

The LED module is built in permanently

The light source is an integrated module, not a lamp in a holder: it has no cap, it cannot be replaced, and when it reaches the end of its life the whole fitting is changed. The maker states 50,000 hours of operation and a five-year warranty. The aluminium fins on top draw heat off the module, so no insulation or other material that blocks air movement should be laid over the fitting.
