BOSTON F0603-03A-F7B1 is a slim 160 cm floor lamp: a single gold tube rising from a round black base 24 cm across. Three small cone-shaped shades sit on the tube at three different heights, alternating from side to side - clear and faceted, so that once lit they break the light into fine sparkles rather than glowing as a smooth surface.
Not just gold
The manufacturer gives the colour as black and gold, and that is not a nuance: the tube, arms and holders are warm gold, while the disc base is deep black in a gloss finish, with a narrow gold collar where the tube meets it. That contrast carries half the effect - the lamp is not monochrome, and it looks quite different on a pale floor, where the black disc is a clear accent, than on dark parquet, where the base all but disappears and only the gold line is left.
Three points on one tube
Spreading the light sources over three heights is what this model is actually for. Instead of one flow from above - as in a classic shaded lamp - BOSTON distributes 1650 lumens across three levels, from knee height to the eye level of a seated person. Alternating the shades from side to side means light falls from two opposite directions, which fills a room corner well and leaves no dark side. Total power is 18 W, so roughly 6 W per shade.
Light and efficiency
The LED modules are permanently built in - no bulbs to buy, and none to change at end of life. At 3000 K the light is warm, close to an old incandescent, and it suits the gold finish; under cold light gold reads grey. Efficacy is around 92 lm/W, a very good figure for a decorative lamp, even though the fitting is declared in energy class G - classes for luminaires with a faceted diffusing shade come out low regardless of how efficient the module itself is.
Assembly and use
The lamp arrives in parts: the instructions call for screwing three tube segments together and threading the assembly into the base - no tools and no wiring work. The cord ends in a plug and carries an inline switch, so the lamp is operated by hand where it stands rather than at the socket. Net weight is 5.6 kg, most of it in the base - at 160 cm tall that is what provides stability, so the lamp does not need to lean on a wall.
Where to put it
The IP20 rating restricts BOSTON to dry interiors. A 24 cm base takes up little floor, so the lamp fits between an armchair and the wall or beside a sofa, where a wide tripod would not go. The diffuse, multi-level light works as supplementary lighting in a living room or bedroom; for reading, a lamp with a directional adjustable shade is the better choice.
