KRABI is a pendant lamp with an openwork bamboo shade: a flattened dome with a turned-out brim and, below it, a second, smaller basket made of the same rods. The bamboo is left in its natural colour, while the canopy and the cord are white. The shade measures 40 cm across and 25 cm high.

How high it hangs and how much room it needs

The total drop is at most 160 cm, from the ceiling to the lower edge of the shade. Over a dining table with a 75 cm top, a pendant is usually hung so the bottom of the shade sits 70–80 cm above the surface, and 40 cm across keeps good proportions over a table 80–90 cm wide.

The height can be shortened, but the manufacturer reserves that to a qualified electrician — it is not a cord adjustment you make yourself after unpacking. The canopy is a white cylinder 5,5 cm across and 7,5 cm high, so it covers a standard junction box but not a larger hole left by a previous fitting.

What bulb it takes and what the light is like

The fitting has one E27 light point and no bulb is included, so you choose the colour and the brightness. The manufacturer gives 25 W as the maximum and restricts it to LED only: halogen and incandescent lamps are ruled out whatever their wattage. Around 800 lm matches the old 60 W bulb and is a sensible starting point.

The shade is openwork — the rods are spaced apart, so light leaves it sideways as well as downwards and draws the shadows of the rods across the ceiling and the walls. The light source is replaceable.

Mounting, supply and build

The lamp mounts directly on the ceiling and is protection class I, so it needs a circuit with an earth conductor — the photograph of the opened canopy shows the yellow-green conductor running to the bracket. The supply is ~220–230 V, 50/60 Hz, and IP20 plus the manufacturer's "indoor" rating limit it to dry rooms.

The shade is bamboo and the metal parts are lacquered steel. At 0,605 kg the lamp puts very little load on its fixing point. The box holds the luminaire and both instruction sheets — the bulb is bought separately. The manufacturer files the design under the Japandi style: natural shade material against plain white hardware with no ornament.
