CAMELEON LASER 490 is the shade on its own: a slim tube of beige lacquered steel, 49 cm long and 2.5 cm across, open at the bottom. In the Nowodvorski CAMELEON system it is a separate order line — a component of an arrangement, not a finished luminaire.

Size and weight

The shade is 49 cm tall and 2.5 cm in diameter, which is almost half a metre of drop before the cable length is added. Measure the mounting height down from the ceiling and compare it with the surface the light will hang over: a dining table is usually 75 cm high, a bar counter 100–110 cm. Weight is 0.26 kg net and 0.3 kg gross.

What else you have to order

The manufacturer lists one suspension for this shade: 1 × CAMELEON CABLE G9, limited to 10 W and to LED lamps only. A ceiling canopy and the mounting accessories for routing the cable come on top of that. The CAMELEON system is assembled in a fixed order: shade, suspension with lamp holder, canopy, accessories.

The installation manual states it plainly: this shade is designed to work only with CAMELEON canopies and CAMELEON cables. A matching lamp base is not enough — the full suspension family name is what decides compatibility.

Which bulb

No light source is included. With a 2.5 cm body diameter an ordinary G9 bulb radiating in every direction lights mainly the inside of the tube, so Nowodvorski recommends its own lensed G9 lamps for this shade: 9173 in warm white 3000 K and 8447 in neutral white 4000 K. The ceiling stays at the 10 W quoted for the cable.

Material and what is in the box

The body is steel finished in matt beige from swatch P038, so the remaining parts of the set can be matched by the same colour reference instead of by eye from photographs. The 50.5 × 3.5 × 4 cm carton holds the shade and the installation manual, and nothing else. The manufacturer intends the component for indoor use only.
