This is the shade alone, not a complete lamp. CAMELEON PEAR BLACK M is a component of Nowodvorski's Cameleon system: a glass bulb shaped like an inverted pear, capped with a black steel collar. To hang and to light, it needs a separately sold CAMELEON CABLE suspension — a cord ending in a socket — and a light source. That is the first thing to check before placing an order.

What has to be ordered alongside

The manufacturer specifies exactly two supply options for this shade:

• 1 × CAMELEON CABLE E27, maximum 25 W, LED sources only — the version for a classic, large decorative bulb;
• 1 × CAMELEON CABLE G9, maximum 10 W, LED sources only — the version for a small source, practically invisible inside the glass.

In the Lunares range CAMELEON CABLE suspensions come in several cord lengths: E27 including no. 8658 (1.5 m) and 12072 (3.5 m), G9 including no. 8632 (1.5 m) and 8625 (7 m). On top of that the shade includes no mounting kit — the canopy (CAMELEON CANOPY) and fixings are assembled separately, which is what lets you hang one shade on a single canopy or several on a shared rose.

The "LED only" restriction is not a formality: the glass is closed at the top by the collar, and a halogen filament or a traditional bulb would heat the inside of the bulb far more than an LED source of the same wattage.

Glass that hides nothing

The bulb is made of clear glass and does not diffuse the light — the source is fully visible. That is a design decision, not an omission: the shade is meant to frame the bulb like a vitrine, not conceal it. In practice this means two things. First, the choice of bulb is part of how the lamp looks — a decorative LED filament in a warm colour with visible wire structure reads completely differently here from a plain opal bulb. Second, hung low over a table or an island, a high-output source will glare, because nothing screens it; this shape suits a source of moderate brightness and warm colour.

Shape and proportions

The silhouette is an inverted pear: narrow at the top, widening low and cut off with a flat, rounded base — so the light gathers in the lower, widest part of the bulb. The shade is 36 cm tall and 22 cm at its widest, and together with the black steel collar and stem the whole component measures 51.5 cm. It weighs 0.9 kg, a figure worth knowing at this size of glass when choosing the canopy and the ceiling fixing.

The steel is painted black in shade P013 RAL 9005 from Nowodvorski's swatch — the same paint code appears on other black parts of the system, so the shade's collar, the cord and the canopy can be matched exactly.

The PEAR family and the Cameleon system

PEAR comes in three sizes — S (no. 10331), M (this shade, 10330) and L (no. 8532) — so a rhythmic composition can be built from a single form over a kitchen island or a long table. The whole Cameleon system rests on the same principle: any shade combines with any matching suspension and canopy, so cord length, hardware colour and socket type are chosen independently of the shape of the glass.
