How it changes the light
The lens shapes the beam to 36°. That is a medium-narrow spread: the light falls as a cone on a limited patch of the surface below the fitting rather than washing across the whole room. This angle is the choice when a downlight should pick out a particular spot — a worktop, a picture, a section of wall or a shelf — instead of giving even general light.
The manufacturer's exploded drawing shows that Dip downlights are built from several modules, and the lens is one of them, sitting inside the body in front of the LED module.

The manufacturer describes this part as a lens for Dip 10 W downlights, so check the wattage and series of your fitting before ordering; the versions for Dip 15 W are 45 mm across and are separate articles. The lens gives no light of its own — it has no LEDs and no power supply, so the recessed downlight is bought separately. The box contains the lens only.
