Nordlux Canto Maxi 2 outdoor wall light 49721031, galvanized steel, 2×GU10

Nordlux Canto Maxi 2 49721031 is a galvanized-steel outdoor wall light with upward and downward light emission. The curved front and visible metal texture distinguish this version from the white and black members of the Canto family. Clear glass closes the light openings rather than providing the appearance of an opal diffuser.

Choose the lamps as well as the fitting

Two GU10 sockets hold the lamps for the upper and lower light directions. Bulbs are not supplied, and Nordlux specifies a maximum bulb wattage of 28 W per lamp. These are replaceable light sources, not a permanently integrated LED module. Light colour, brightness and beam angle therefore depend on the bulbs you select. Consider those characteristics when deciding how the light should fall across your wall.

Dimming requires dimmable bulbs and suitable control equipment. A GU10 socket does not make every compatible bulb dimmable. If several fittings will be visible together, choosing bulbs with matching specifications helps keep their wall-lighting effects consistent.

Allow for the projection from the wall

The body measures 16 cm high and 8.7 cm wide, with a projection of 10 cm. Compare that projection with the space beside a door or along a passage before installation. Up-and-down emission lends itself to lighting a wall on a facade, terrace or balcony; it does not in itself establish broad illumination of an entire garden.

Nordlux designates this IP44 fitting for outdoor use and also permits indoor placement. Its 230 V supply and Class I construction require a protective-earth connection. Built-in provision for parallel connection allows several fittings to be planned in one arrangement. Wall-mounting screws are not included.

A finish that changes with exposure

The Bønnelycke MDD design pairs a restrained shape with a metallic surface for modern and minimalist architecture. Nordlux includes this variant in Designed For Seaside, intended for coastal locations too. Galvanized steel darkens and develops a patina over time, so the initial sheen should not be expected to remain unchanged. The manufacturer's 15-year guarantee concerns extensive corrosion resulting in holes in the metal, subject to its terms; it is not an unrestricted guarantee covering every component or ordinary wear.
