Norlys Asker 1726AL aluminium outdoor wall light, LED 5.4 W 3000 K

The Norlys Asker 1726AL is an outdoor wall light with an aluminium rectangular housing and light leaving through the lower opening. Code 1726AL is the aluminium variant of the Asker family, not the black or graphite version. The product photograph shows a pale metallic body without ornament. An integrated LED module is already fitted, so no separate lamp needs to be bought.

How much light the fitting gives

The official card separates LED-module power from the power of the complete fitting: 3.9 W and 5.4 W. Flux is split the same way. The module produces 653 lm and the fitting produces 429 lm. For deciding whether the light will mark an entrance, use 429 lm, not the higher module figure. That downward output can identify a door, a section of facade or the area beside a balcony.

The 3000 K colour is warm. CRI is 80 and LED chromaticity is SDCM3. Module efficacy is 167.4 lm/W and fitting efficacy is 79.4 lm/W. The card marks the fitting as dimmable but does not name the dimmer type, so driver compatibility has to be checked before buying a control. Declared module life exceeds 70,000 hours.

Mounting and connection

The fitting is for outdoor use: IP65 and IK08. Protection class I requires a protective earth conductor. The installation sheet specifies 220–240 V, 50–60 Hz. Wall fixing uses two 4.5 mm holes spaced 180 by 60 mm. Terminals accept cable up to 3 x 2.5 mm², and a loop-through connection up to 3 x 1.5 mm². The round-sheathed cable should be 7–10.5 mm in diameter.

Installation is for a qualified electrician. Power must be switched off before the light source is replaced. The Norlys gasket may be pierced only by an installation cable of that diameter. Piercing it with a tool reduces the IP rating and, according to the instructions, voids the warranty. A cracked protective screen must be replaced. The LED source is replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or a similarly qualified person. It is not a lamp the user unscrews.

Where this model makes sense

Downward distribution and wall mounting suit a facade, the position above a door, a balcony and a fence when local light at the wall is enough. The plain aluminium box, without decoration, is modernist and contemporary.
