NORLYS Koster 1912AL Outdoor Wall Light, Light Grey RAL 9006, LED 17.5 W 3000 K

The Koster 1912AL is an outdoor wall light on a straight arm with a domed shade 24.5 cm in diameter. The cast aluminium body is powder-coated in light grey RAL 9006, and the underside is closed by a clear, textured polycarbonate diffuser stabilised against UV. The light source is an integrated 17.5 W LED module in 3000 K.

Size and wall mounting

The fitting is 24 cm tall and projects 44 cm from the wall; the round wall plate is 12 cm across. The shade therefore sits well in front of the façade, clear of door frames and window sills. Norlys also allows mounting on building corners.

It is fixed with three screws through ø7 mm holes, spaced to the mounting box supplied with the light. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm² and allow the supply to loop on to the next fitting (up to 3 × 1.5 mm²), and the gland is made for round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. As a protection class I luminaire it must be connected to the protective earth, so installation is a job for a qualified electrician.

What light it gives

The Philips Fortimo LED module produces warm white 3000 K light, and 1568 lm leave the fitting for 17.5 W — the output of main lighting rather than a marker light. The beam is symmetrical and points down; with ULOR 0%, no light goes above the horizontal, so none reaches upper-floor windows or the sky.

The luminaire is not dimmable and works on/off only.

Build and servicing

IP54 means protection against dust and against water splashed from any direction, so the light can hang on an exposed outside wall. IK10 is the top rating for resistance to mechanical impact, useful where the light is mounted low.

The LED module is not user-replaceable, but it is not sealed in for good either: Norlys provides for replacement of the light source by a professional service and lists the LED module (46999751) and a diffuser service kit (06710000) as spare parts. Rated module life is over 50,000 hours (L70).

Where it fits

The plain dome on a slim arm and the single light grey colour suit modern architecture with a Scandinavian character. The light is intended for the façades and balconies of houses and for hotel and restaurant frontages.
