Lofoten 1961BL is a low pedestal light in the shape of a cube: a black steel frame with 23 cm sides holds an opal PMMA diffuser on all four faces. Including its base the light stands 27 cm tall. The form is plain and classic, with flat sides and no ornament, and the steel is electro-galvanised and powder-coated black (RAL 9005).
Where it mounts
The maker lists it as a pedestal luminaire — it is screwed onto a wall top, a plinth, a fence post or another structure rather than pushed into a lawn. The base has four ø5.8 mm holes on a 70 × 70 mm pattern, and the light itself takes up 23 × 23 cm, which is the figure to compare with the width of the wall coping or post cap it will sit on.
IP44 means protection against splashing water from any direction, so the light can stand outdoors without a roof over it. The maker intends it for lighting terraces and other architectural features, such as garden steps or the entrance to a property.
What light it gives and what else to buy
The fitting has an E27 socket and takes an LED bulb of up to 11 W in the A55–A60 shape, the ordinary pear-shaped bulb; a larger globe or a long candle bulb will not fit inside the diffuser. No bulb is supplied, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself, and you can change it without a technician. The opal diffuser spreads the light sideways while the top plate partly shields it, so the cube glows as an even, soft surface rather than showing the bulb as a bright point.
Wiring and build
The terminals take conductors up to 2 × 2.5 mm², and the light can be looped through with up to 2 × 1.5 mm², so several pedestal lights along one wall can run from a single supply line. An EPDM gland seals round-sheathed cable of 7–10.5 mm diameter, and the diffuser sits on a silicone gasket. The light is protection class II, meaning double insulation that needs no earth connection. It weighs 2.89 kg.
