Norlys Nordland 718GR outdoor wall / ceiling light, LED 10 W 3000 K, 28 × 28 cm, graphite RAL 7016

Nordland 718GR is a square 28 × 28 cm outdoor light for mounting on a wall or a ceiling. The powder-coated cast aluminium body is graphite RAL 7016, and the opal diffuser of UV-stabilised polycarbonate fills the frame at the front and along the sides.

How big it is and where to mount it

The fitting measures 28 × 28 cm and projects 9.5 cm from the wall or ceiling – figures to compare with the spot beside the door, under the eaves or on the ceiling of a covered terrace. The manufacturer describes it as a ceiling and wall luminaire, and the catalogue lists it for gardens, balconies, terraces and gazebos as well as hotel and restaurant surroundings. The plain square frame without ornament makes it a modern design.

It is fixed through two ø5 mm holes spaced 150 × 170 mm apart. The terminals take cable up to 3 × 2.5 mm² and allow the supply to loop on to the next fitting at the same cross-section, so several lights on a facade or under a canopy run from one line. The EPDM cable gland accepts round-sheathed cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter.

How much light it gives

The integrated LED module draws 10 W. The source alone produces 911 lm, and 574 lm leaves the fitting through the opal diffuser – a little less than an old 60 W incandescent bulb. 3000 K is warm white, and CRI 80 renders colours correctly for everyday use. The light is diffuse, and a ULOR of 8.97% means only a small share goes above the fitting.

The module runs directly on mains voltage and can be dimmed with a phase dimmer, either trailing edge (TE) or leading edge (LE), so older dimmers work with it too. The light source is not user-replaceable – the LED module is changed by a professional service. The manufacturer states an L70 lifetime of over 59,000 hours.

Build

IP65 means the fitting is dust-tight and protected against water jets, so it can go on a facade with no cover, and IK10 is the highest impact resistance class. Protection class I requires an earth connection. The gasket is silicone. Model 718 also comes in aluminium colour, white, copper brown and corten steel, and the Nordland family also includes fittings with a motion sensor.
