Norlys Sol 4043GR graphite LED outdoor ceiling light, 19.3 W 3000 K, IP65

Sol 4043GR is a round outdoor ceiling light 20 cm in diameter and 11 cm high that screws directly to the ceiling. The housing, an extruded aluminium profile, is powder-coated in graphite RAL 7016 and closed underneath by a diffuser of clear safety glass. Norlys intends it for gardens, private grounds and architectural lighting.

How much light it gives, and what kind

The integrated Philips Fortimo LED module draws 19.3 W and the luminaire puts out 1938 lm – enough for a single fitting to be the main light of a covered terrace, carport or entrance porch. The light goes symmetrically downwards, ULOR is 0.3%, and the BUG rating B1-U1-G0 means almost nothing reaches the sky. The manufacturer calculated the light distribution for a mounting height of 2.5 m.

3000 K is warm white, CRI 80 renders colours correctly, and SDCM3 keeps several fittings side by side at the same shade. The luminaire can be dimmed with a phase dimmer of either the trailing-edge or the leading-edge type.

Installation and wiring

The fitting is fixed with two screws through ø5 mm holes 100 mm apart, following the enclosed instructions. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², a further luminaire can be looped through with conductors up to 1.5 mm², and the gland accepts a round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. It is protection class I, so the installation needs a protective earth, and the connection should be made by a qualified electrician.

Durability and service

IP65 protects the fitting against dust and water jets, so it can also hang under eaves exposed to driving rain. Impact resistance is IK06 (1 J). The manufacturer states an LED lifetime of L70 over 50,000 hours. The user does not replace the LED module or the driver, but a professional service can – Norlys has separate service kits for this, ZS4043ZX0009 (LED) and ZS4046ZX0009 (driver). The fitting weighs 2.65 kg. The Sol range also includes a 4000 K version (4044) and DALI2-controlled versions.
