NORLYS Voss 1954GR outdoor wall light, graphite RAL 7016, LED 6.4 W 3000 K, narrow downlight

The NORLYS Voss 1954GR is a large outdoor wall light shaped as a rectangular block that shines downwards only, in a narrow 4° beam. The body is cast aluminium, powder-coated graphite (RAL 7016), and the light opening underneath is closed by clear safety glass with a silicone seal.

How big it is and where it fits

The light is 18 cm high and 16 cm wide and projects a full 27 cm from the wall, a figure to compare with the space under the eaves, beside the door or on the pier where it will hang. It weighs 4.57 kg, so the fixings need to suit that weight and the type of wall. Norlys designs it for lighting walls, facades and architectural details; it also suits a balcony and the entrances of hotels and restaurants. IP54 means protection against dust and splashing water from any direction, and its impact rating is IK06.

What light it gives

The 4° beam draws a narrow, sharply defined streak of light on the wall below the fitting rather than a broad pool, an effect for picking out the vertical lines of a facade, pilasters or the rhythm of several lights along a long wall. The maker gives ULOR 0% and a BUG rating of B0-U0-G0, so no light goes above the fitting, which matters when bedroom windows sit above it.

The source is a Cree LED module supplied in the fitting, at 3000 K, a warm white close to a traditional bulb, with CRI 80 colour rendering; the fitting draws 6.4 W. It is not dimmable and works as on/off only.

Installation, wiring and service

It fixes through two ø7 mm holes spaced 100 x 80 mm apart. It is protection class I, so it needs an earth conductor connected. The terminals take conductors up to 3 x 2.5 mm² and allow the supply to loop on to the next fitting (up to 3 x 1.5 mm²), so several lights on one wall can run from a single line; the EPDM gland takes round cable of 7–10.5 mm.
