NORLYS Voss 5032AL Up/Down Outdoor Wall Light LED 14.9W 4000K Aluminium IP54

Voss 5032AL is a Norlys outdoor wall light with a compact, block-shaped body of die-cast aluminium, powder-coated in an aluminium colour (RAL 9006). It shines in two directions: upwards in a very narrow 4° beam and downwards in a wider 62° beam, through panes of clear safety glass.

Size and mounting

The light is 18 cm high and 16 cm wide but projects 27 cm from the wall – a figure to compare with the free space beside a door, a window or a downpipe. It weighs 4.57 kg. It is fixed with two screws through ø7 mm holes spaced 100 × 80 mm apart.

The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm² and let you loop the supply on to the next fitting with cable up to 3 × 1.5 mm², so several lights on one façade can run off a single line. The EPDM gland accepts round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. It is a protection class I luminaire, so it needs a protective earth conductor.

What light it gives

Three built-in LED modules totalling 12.5 W work inside; the whole light draws 14.9 W, and there is no bulb to buy. The colour temperature of 4000 K is neutral white, with colour rendering of Ra 80. The luminaire emits 658 lm, split according to the manufacturer 20% up and 80% down: the narrow beam draws a thin, tall line on the wall above the light, while the wide beam lights the façade and the ground below.

The light is phase-dimmable, and the manufacturer approves both trailing-edge (TE) and leading-edge (LE) dimmers – so it works with either type of phase dimmer. According to the manufacturer, the L90 lifetime of the modules exceeds 52,600 hours and L80 exceeds 102,000 hours.

Where it works

IP54 means protection against dust and splashing water from any direction, and IK06 resistance to light impacts. The manufacturer intends the light for illuminating walls, façades and architectural details; several lights in a row create a rhythm of bright lines on the façade. That is why the model is used on building elevations, at hotels and restaurants, and on balconies. The plain, modern block without ornament does not dominate the architecture.
