Oslo 242GA is a NORLYS twin-arm garden lantern sold as a complete set: a luminaire with two lamps (art. 2014) mounted on a telescopic pole (art. 3009/3011). Each lamp has a small dome, three flat discs and a clear, UV-stabilised polycarbonate diffuser. The whole set is made of hot-dip galvanised and powder-coated steel in the light grey, metallic colour of zinc.
Dimensions and installation
The arms with lamps span 78 cm, and the discs are 28.5 cm across. The telescopic pole lets you adjust the lantern's height, with 170 cm as the lowest setting.
The pole is bolted to the ground through three ø10.5 mm holes spaced 120° apart on a ø207 mm circle. The manufacturer sells the foundation parts separately: concrete-in anchor 405ZX0009, ground anchor 406ZX0009 and concrete foundation adapter 111GA0012 – one of them has to be bought.
It is a protection class II luminaire, so no protective earth is required, and IP55 protection lets it stand in the garden without any extra cover.
Light sources
Each of the two lamps has an E27 socket and takes an LED bulb of up to 9 W in the classic A55–A60 bulb shape – bulbs of other shapes may not fit inside the diffuser. No bulbs are included, so two need to be bought, and the user replaces them. The chosen bulb sets brightness and colour – an 806 lm LED bulb matches the brightness of an old 60 W bulb.
The light is directed downwards, and the discs only partly shield it from above. A ULOR of 9.19% and a BUG rating of B0-U2-G1 mean a small share of the flux also goes upwards.
Where it fits
The manufacturer describes Oslo as a luminaire of Scandinavian design for lighting gardens, parks and other architectural projects. Two lamps on one pole suit a terrace, the entrance of a guesthouse or restaurant, and a park. The diffuser can be replaced if damaged – the manufacturer offers service kit 06240003.
