Asker 5224AL Silver LED Garden Lantern by NORLYS

Asker 5224AL is a complete 300 cm lighting column: an extruded, powder-coated aluminium profile finished at the top with a horizontal luminaire head behind a sealed PMMA lens. The finish is aluminium RAL 9006. The structure comes in two segments, and a silicone gasket seals the joint.

Dimensions and how it is set

The column stands 300 cm tall, its footprint is 24 × 48,5 cm, and the whole thing weighs 11 kg net. The base bolts onto four M14 studs on a 180 × 180 mm hole pattern and is matched to the B-50 precast foundation. The foundation itself, the ground anchor, the concrete anchor and the mounting adapter are not supplied and are bought separately.

Supply lands on terminals taking conductors up to 5 × 2,5 mm², and the luminaire can be looped through — several columns can therefore sit on one run. The gland accepts a round cable of 8–12 mm or 10–13,6 mm diameter. The manufacturer reserves installation and service for a suitably qualified person, following the manual supplied with the fitting.

How Asker spreads the light

The head uses a Ledil VSM lens with an IESNA type V distribution — rotationally symmetric and wide, so the light spreads evenly around the column rather than one way along a path. One per cent of the flux goes upward (ULOR 1%), so the fitting lights the ground rather than the sky.

The LED module draws 16,8 W and the whole luminaire 19,5 W, giving 2660 lm at 3000 K — warm white, closer to incandescent light than to the cool tones of road lighting. Colour rendering is Ra 70, the usual level for exterior fittings: the colours of planting and façades stay recognisable, but not as faithfully as at Ra 90 indoors. The luminaire dims on phase control, with trailing-edge and leading-edge dimmers alike.

Operating conditions and service

The luminaire is rated IP65, and the optical set of LED module and lens IP67, so the column works unsheltered in the open. Impact resistance is IK08. The operating temperature range runs from −20 to +45 °C, covering winter and summer.

The LED module can be replaced only through professional service, and so can the control gear — this is not a fitting whose user changes the source. The manufacturer rates the driver at 100 000 hours. Asker is intended for lighting private grounds, parks and architectural schemes.
