Borg 5147GR Graphite LED Pole-Top Luminaire 32 W NORLYS

The Borg 5147GR is a pole-top luminaire shaped as a flat disc 51.2 cm across. The body is a cast aluminium powder-coated in graphite RAL 7016, and the underside is closed by a milky UV-stabilised polycarbonate lens seated on a silicone gasket.

What arrives and what it mounts on

This is the luminaire alone, with no pole. It slides onto a 60 mm spigot to a depth of 95 mm, so the pole and the remaining hardware — a reduction or a mounting adapter — are ordered separately. Six metres of H05RN-F 6G1 cable leave the housing and are terminated in a suitably chosen wiring box.

The side area of the luminaire is 0.042 m2. That figure is what a designer sizes the pole against: it sets the wind load the structure has to carry.

How much light it gives and how it throws it

The LED module is built in permanently, draws 32 W and delivers 3183 lm — that is the light leaving the luminaire, not the module. At 4000 K the light is neutral white, cooler than a domestic bulb and easy to read a driveway or an entrance by.

Light goes downwards only: the upward share of the flux is 0 per cent, and the maker computed the photometry for a mounting height of 4 m. There is no gap above the disc, so the luminaire brightens neither the sky nor upstairs windows.

Control, sealing and service

The luminaire runs on DALI2 with NightDim, so it is dimmed from the installation rather than from a switch.

The housing is sealed to IP65 and built in protection class I, so the earth conductor has to be connected. The LED module and the driver are changed by a qualified service — the maker lists a service kit for this luminaire and states 100 000 h for the driver, with over 54 000 h of module life to a 10 per cent drop in output.

How many fit on one circuit

Inrush current is 26 A for 180 microseconds, so the number of luminaires on a circuit is limited by the breaker curve rather than by wattage. The maker gives 18 on a B 10 A breaker and 28 on a B 16 A. Along a longer run of poles that figure decides how many circuits have to be brought out.
