Norlys Borg 5144AL pole-top luminaire aluminium LED 32W 4000K

The Borg 5144 is a pole-top luminaire: a flat disc of powder-coated cast aluminium in aluminium RAL 9006, 51.2 cm across and 15.4 cm high including the mounting sleeve. It emits downwards only, through a satin PMMA cover that takes up the whole underside of the disc.

What is supplied and what has to be bought separately

What ships is the luminaire alone, without a pole. The sleeve fits a ø60 mm spigot and slides 95 mm onto it, so the pole is a separate purchase matched to that dimension. Norlys names two accessories sold separately: reduction 3070XX0009 and mounting adapter 154XX0010, needed when an existing pole has a different head.

A ready-made H05RN-F 6G1 cable 6 m long comes out of the luminaire and is connected in a box inside the pole or at its base. Six metres covers a normal mounting height, so the cable needs no extending or joining inside the fitting. The LED module is built in; no separate light source is bought.

How much light it gives and where it puts it

The luminaire delivers 4059 lm at 4000 K, neutral light with no yellow tone — the light used on footways and driveways because it holds contrast after dark. A colour rendering index of Ra 80 is enough to tell vehicle and surface colours apart.

The ULOR figure is 0%, so nothing goes above the plane of the luminaire: all the light goes down onto the path and the roadway instead of brightening the sky and upstairs windows. The manufacturer computed the distribution for a 4 m mounting height, and that is the pole height to plan the spacing around.

The figures the design needs

The side area of the luminaire is 0.042 m² — the figure the wind load depends on, and the one a pole is dimensioned from. The luminaire is protection class I, so it needs a protective earth conductor, and it carries IP65 ingress protection and IK08 impact resistance.

Control runs on D4i, the digital DALI-2 bus: a controller is required and an ordinary wall dimmer will not work here. The driver is factory-programmed to the maximum permitted current, and Norlys sets the remaining parameters by agreement. The manufacturer states 100,000 h driver life, and the LED module and control gear are both replaceable by a service technician, so an electronics failure does not end the luminaire's life.
