Sola is a compact table lamp 50.5 cm tall: a hand-blown clear glass body moulded with a raised diamond pattern, capped top and bottom with polished nickel collars, under a drum shade in Titanium silver faux silk.
How much room it takes
The base is 17 cm across and the shade is the widest part at 30 cm — figures to compare against the depth of the bedside table or sideboard it will stand on. The glass body alone is 26.7 cm high and the whole lamp 50.5 cm.
It weighs 2.97 kg, so it stands firmly and does not topple if the cable is caught. The underside of the metal base is faced with a thick black felt pad that keeps the surface from being scratched.
Which bulb to buy
The lampholder takes an E27 cap and a lamp of up to 60 W. No bulb is supplied, and 60 W is a ceiling not to be exceeded rather than the lamp's own consumption. Only the shade is lit: on this smaller Sola the glass body is not illuminated from inside.
The output can be dimmed, but from the bulb — Quintiesse specifies dimmable smart lamps rather than a wall dimmer, and there is no control gear in the lamp itself.
Power and build
The lamp is for interior use and plugs into a socket rather than being wired in. A clear in-line switch sits on the clear PVC cable, so the light is switched at the lamp instead of at the wall. It is a Class I fitting, which means the socket has to carry an earth pin.
