Recessed downlight SLV NUMINOS DL L white 3000K 2300lm 25.41W 1003953

The SLV NUMINOS DL L is a recessed ceiling downlight 13 cm across and 8.5 cm deep. The body is a finned aluminium casting finished in white, and a polycarbonate lens closes the LED module.

The driver is bought separately

The fitting is protection class III and runs on a constant current of 700 mA — it contains no control gear and is never wired to 230 V. A 10 cm tail leaves the housing ending in a low-voltage plug connector that goes to an LED driver. No driver is included: the maker specifies the 1004062 (21–29.5 W, 500/600/700 mA) for this luminaire, and without one the fitting cannot be switched on.

The installation manual also states how far the driver may sit from the luminaire: the cable between them has to be 20 to 200 cm. That figure decides whether the driver fits in the same void above the ceiling. Dimming is the chosen driver's business — the luminaire itself is not DALI capable.

The cut-out and fixing

The cut-out is round and 11.7 cm in diameter, with 9 cm of depth needed above it. The fitting is held by two spring clips the maker rates for ceiling board 7 to 25 mm thick — outside that range the clips either fail to grip or fail to pull the bezel flush.

The light it gives

The luminaire delivers 2300 lm at 3000 K, a warm white close to the light of a traditional bulb. A colour rendering index of Ra 90 means colours read almost as they do in daylight, which matters wherever colours have to match. The half beam angle is 40°, so one fitting lights a zone rather than a single object.

The glare rating stays at or below UGR 19, the threshold lighting for screen-based workstations is designed to. The maker rates the module L80B50 at 50,000 h — after that time it still gives at least 80% of its initial output.

Build and sealing

For this article number the maker states IP44, that is resistance to splashed water from any direction; the datasheet prints the range-wide IP20/IP44 code. The light source is not user-replaceable: the maker has the module changed by a qualified service only.
