Recessed downlight SLV NUMINOS DL L white/black 2700K 25.41W 2150lm 1003925

NUMINOS DL L is a recessed ceiling downlight: a white ring 13 cm across with a black interior, in an aluminium housing with a polycarbonate cover. The LED is built in permanently. The fitting runs on safety extra-low voltage and needs a separate LED driver, which is not included.

What the installation needs

The cut-out is round and measures 11.7 cm, and the fitting reaches 9 cm up into the ceiling. The visible ring is 13 cm, so it covers the edge of the opening. Those two numbers — 11.7 cm in the plane of the ceiling and 9 cm of depth — belong next to the space left above the board of a suspended ceiling.

The manufacturer states safety class III, so no mains voltage reaches the fitting: it is fed by an external constant-current LED driver at 700 mA. SLV names specific models in the manual — 1004062, 1004065 and 1004070 — and that is a part to buy separately. The fitting's connection cable is 10 cm long, so the driver has to sit right beside it, on the ceiling side.

The light it gives

The LED module draws 25.41 W and gives 2150 lm at 2700 K, warm and slightly yellow light close to an old incandescent bulb. The beam is 20 degrees — a narrow cone that lights a chosen patch of floor, worktop or wall rather than a whole room, which is why several of these are normally planned per room.

Ra 90 means colours under this light look nearly as they do in daylight; that counts over a worktop and anywhere colours have to match. The glare index UGR does not exceed 22. The module's stated life is 50 000 hours on the L80B50 criterion — after that the fitting still lights, at no less than 80 percent of its original output. The source is not changed like a bulb.

Materials and ratings

The housing is aluminium, the cover polycarbonate, and impact resistance is IK02, that is 0.2 joule. The manufacturer gives an ambient temperature range of -20 to +40 degrees Celsius, and the warranty runs five years.

The datasheet names two ingress ratings, IP20 and IP44. The installation manual assigns IP44 to the articles in the range 1003913-1003981, which is where 1003925 falls.
