Orb is a pendant with a single mouth-blown glass globe 30 cm across, hung on a white suspension of up to 500 cm. The glass carries a copper gradient: mirror-like at the top, turning clear towards the bottom so the bulb shows through. The metal parts — canopy and lampholder — are white.

What is in the box and how far it drops

The gallery photographs show several globes arranged together, but this article is one globe on one suspension. Multi-globe sets on a shared canopy are separate items in the catalogue.

The maximum drop is 500 cm, and the cable is shortened to the length you need during installation. Five metres is the range intended for a space open to the floor above — a stairwell, a hall, a mezzanine — where the globe hangs well below the ceiling. Above a dining table with its top 75 cm off the floor, the suspension is shortened so the bottom of the globe sits 70–80 cm above the tabletop. A 30 cm globe is smaller than a typical shade over a table, so above a wide top it works better in a group than on its own.

What bulb it needs

The fitting has one E27 socket rated to a maximum of 40 W, and no bulb is supplied — brightness and light colour are yours to choose. For reference: about 800 lm matches an old 60 W bulb, and 2700–3000 K is warm, slightly yellow light.

The manufacturer states that the fitting can be dimmed with suitable bulbs. That means two conditions at once: a bulb described as dimmable and a dimmer in the circuit — the fitting has no control of its own.

Glass, making and installation

The globes are mouth-blown and the manufacturer describes every fitting as made individually, so the pattern of the colour gradient is not identical on every piece. Because the bulb is visible through the clear lower part of the globe, its shape affects how the lamp looks both lit and unlit.

The fitting weighs 2.22 kg, or 3.13 kg with its packaging. It is built to protection class I, so it needs a supply with an earth conductor.
