Sol 4056BL Outdoor LED Ceiling Light, Black, Ø20 cm, 4000 K, DALI2 – NORLYS

The Sol 4056BL is an outdoor ceiling light from Norlys shaped as a low cylinder 20 cm in diameter and 11 cm high. The body is an extruded aluminium profile powder-coated black (RAL 9005), closed underneath by a clear UV-stabilised polycarbonate diffuser sealed with a silicone gasket.

How much light and of what kind

The source is a built-in Philips Fortimo DLM Flex LED module fed by an electronic driver inside the fitting. The light draws 19.1 W and, according to the manufacturer, delivers 2421 lm at 4000 K, a neutral white — a main-lighting level rather than a mood one. The colour rendering index is CRI 80, and SDCM3 colour consistency means that differences in tint between several of these fittings mounted side by side are barely noticeable.

The light is symmetrical and directed downwards. The manufacturer gives a ULOR of 0.3% and a BUG rating of B1-U1-G0 — only a negligible fraction of the output escapes upwards, so the fitting does not light up the sky or the windows on the floor above.

Control and connection

This version has a driver with DALI2 control. Brightness is set through a DALI2 controller or system connected by a separate pair of control wires — an ordinary phase dimmer in the circuit will not work. The fitting runs on 220–240 V mains, and the manufacturer also allows it to be supplied with DC 176–280 V.

It is a Class I fitting, so it must be connected to a protective earth. The terminals take up to five 2.5 mm² conductors, and wires up to 1.5 mm² let you loop the supply on to the next fitting; the cable gland suits round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter. It is fixed to the ceiling through two ø5 mm holes 100 mm apart; installation to the enclosed instructions should be carried out by a suitably authorised and qualified person.

Where it can be used

IP65 means the fitting is fully dust-tight and protected against water jets, and IK10 is the highest impact-resistance class on that scale. The manufacturer designed it for lighting gardens, private grounds and architectural applications, and its plain, contemporary form suits the ceiling of a terrace, a gazebo or an arcade. The manufacturer rates the LED module's lifetime at more than 50,000 hours at L70.
