The UNO S 10841 is a round recessed downlight in black-painted steel with a 9.5 cm outer diameter. The ring is plain, without ornament, and two spring clips on the body hold it in the ceiling.
The cut-out and the space above the ceiling
The fitting drops into a round cut-out 8.3 cm across. The visible ring measures 9.5 cm, so it covers the cut edge with about a centimetre of margin all round. The body is 4.5 cm deep, and that much clear space has to remain above the ceiling board, over the hole itself.
The clips press the fitting against the board from above, so no separate frame is needed to install it. A short lead with a terminal block comes out of the body. The fitting weighs 0.13 kg and, being protection class II, needs no earth conductor at the box. The carton holds the fitting and the instructions, with no bulb.
Which lamp to buy
The fitting has one GX53 socket, which takes a flat lamp that is pushed in and turned rather than screwed. The manufacturer allows a maximum of 15 W and LED lamps only: a closed steel housing does not shed the heat of a halogen burner.
Nowodvorski offers its own GX53 lamps at 8 W for this fitting, in 3000 K warm white and in 4000 K neutral white. The first suits a living room or bedroom, the second a kitchen and a worktop. Brightness and colour depend entirely on the lamp you pick, because the fitting gives no light of its own.
Where it can be installed
The manufacturer intends this fitting for indoor use only. At IP20 it is not for a terrace or a shower zone, and a suspended ceiling is what it is built for.
The supply is 220-230 V at 50 or 60 Hz. The fitting is made in Poland, in Siemianowice. The same model also comes in white, so several units can be matched to one colour across a room.
