UPATA is a single-light pendant with a shade shaped as a clear glass globe 30 cm across. The globe is open at the top and rests by its rim on four slim black arms that hold the brass-finished cylinder of the lampholder. A black cable runs above it to a round black ceiling rose.
How big it is and how high to hang it
The manufacturer gives a total height of 187 cm — the length of the cable with the shade, shortened at the ceiling rose during installation to whatever drop you need. Over a table the lower edge of the shade usually sits 70–80 cm above the top: the globe then lights the table surface and stays out of the eye line of anyone seated.
At 30 cm the globe is smaller than the 40 cm normally chosen over an 80–90 cm wide table, so a single UPATA suits a narrow top, or a row of several over a longer table. The same family includes a 25 cm globe and a three-light version measuring 42.5 cm.
Which bulb to buy
The lampholder is an E27 and no light source is supplied. The manufacturer caps the lamp at 12 W, which in practice means an LED source — an ordinary 40 or 60 W incandescent exceeds that limit and does not belong in this fitting.
The glass is completely colourless and hides no part of the bulb, so its shape becomes part of how the lamp looks: a decorative lamp with a visible filament reads quite differently here from a plain opal bulb. A clear shade does not diffuse either — the light goes out in every direction and the source itself stays visible.
Build
The shade is glass, the suspension and the lampholder are metal. The cylinder over the lampholder has a brass finish while the arms, the cable and the ceiling rose are black — besides the glass, the only two colours on the whole lamp.
The IP20 rating assigns the lamp to dry interiors only; it cannot hang over a bath, in a shower or outdoors. It runs on 230 V from the ceiling wiring.
