The VT-787SQ-WH is a V-TAC recessed spotlight fitting with a square, matt white front and a round aperture for the lamp. The frame measures 84 × 84 mm and the aperture is closed by a frosted cover, which is what lets the fitting hold an IP54 rating. The beam direction is fixed — the fitting cannot be tilted once it is in place.
Size and ceiling installation
The fitting drops into a 75 mm cut-out and its recessed body is 38 mm deep, so a shallow void above a suspended ceiling or a plasterboard soffit is enough. All that stays visible is the 84 × 84 mm square frame.
Two spring clips hold it in the opening, with no screws or extra brackets. It weighs 0.17 kg, so several units can be lined up in one run without reinforcing the ceiling.
Choosing the lamp
The holder takes one GU10 lamp of up to 35 W, running straight off the 230 V mains. No lamp is supplied, so you pick the colour and brightness yourself: 2700–3000 K gives warm, slightly yellow light, while 4000 K is a neutral white in which colours read more accurately at a mirror.
The frosted cover sits over the lamp, so the bare cap is not visible when you look up. Because the light falls straight down and cannot be aimed sideways, fittings like this are normally set out on a regular grid rather than pointed at one part of a wall.
Where the IP54 housing earns its keep
IP54 means protection against dust and against water splashed from any direction. V-TAC intends this fitting for the bathroom — in the ceiling above a shower enclosure, above a bath and over a washbasin, where steam and splashes are routine.
Construction
The body is cast from zinc alloy and the mounting parts are iron; the front is painted white with a matt finish that leaves no glossy hotspot on the ceiling. The fitting meets CE, EMC and RoHS requirements.
