Argon DARLING LED 3570 ceiling light, textured black, Ø 35 cm, LED 21.6 W 3650 lm 3000 K, IP20

DARLING LED 3570 is a ceiling light from the Polish maker Argon — a low, round drum 35 cm across and only 8 cm deep, in a textured black finish, closed underneath by an opal glass diffuser. The whole form sits flush to the ceiling, which suits rooms with low headroom where a pendant would be in the way.

How much light it gives, and what that means

The integrated LED module emits 3650 lm at 21.6 W. That is a lot for a ceiling light this size — enough to be the only light source in a room of around 20 m² — and at 169 lumens per watt the fitting falls in the manufacturer's declared energy class C. For comparison, a typical fitting in this category draws half as much again for a similar output.

The light colour is warm white 3000 K, diffused by the glass across the whole underside. There are no point sources and no visible diodes — it lights as an even, milky disc, which is an advantage in a bedroom or hallway where sharp light tires the eye.

4000 K at no extra cost — but you have to ask for it

Argon states for this model that there is an option to fit a 4000 K LED module free of charge. The neutral version suits a kitchen, a bathroom or a work room better, where warm white can feel too "evening". Because the module is integrated and fitted at the factory, the colour has to be specified when ordering — it cannot be changed after delivery.

Build

The body is painted steel in textured black — a matt, slightly grainy coating that throws no specular highlights and shows dust less than smooth gloss. The diffuser is glass, not plastic: glass does not yellow from diode heat and does not haze with cleaning, which matters on a fitting installed for a decade or more.

The fitting weighs 2.6 kg, is rated IP20 and runs directly on 230 V mains — the light source is built in and supplied with the lamp, so no bulb has to be bought. It is not, however, user-replaceable.

The whole DARLING LED collection

Argon builds this collection around one form in several sizes and two colours, so several rooms can be lit in a consistent style:

• Ceiling lights: small Ø 25 cm / 2350 lm (white 3566, black 3569), medium Ø 35 cm / 3650 lm (white 3567, black 3570 — this model), large Ø 45 cm / 4370 lm (white 3568, black 3571)
• Single-light pendants: small Ø 35 cm / 3650 lm (white 3349, black 3350), large Ø 45 cm / 4370 lm (white 3351, black 3352) — 905 mm drop, 800 mm cable
• Three-light pendants 3 × 2450 lm, 500 mm wide (white 1222, black 1223)

The ceiling light and the pendant in the same diameter have identical output, so a pendant over the table can be combined with a ceiling light in the seating area without any difference in the character of the light.

Worth knowing before you order

• 4000 K has to be ordered upfront — it is free, but the module is fitted at the factory.
• The source is integrated — no bulb to buy, but none to replace either.
• Ø 35 cm is the medium version; for a larger room there is model 3571 at Ø 45 cm and 4370 lm, for a smaller one 3569 at Ø 25 cm.
• IP20 means dry interiors only — not for a shower zone.
• The fitting is not dimmable — the manufacturer states no control option.
