Lindendale is a single-light pendant by Quoizel, distributed by Elstead Lighting: a spherical shade woven from faux rattan in a Western Bronze finish — a very dark brown — hung on a chain below a round ceiling plate. Inside the weave, a clear glass shade surrounds the bulb. The maker describes the shape as inspired by Isamu Noguchi's lamps.
Size and hanging height
The sphere is 40.5 cm in diameter and 43.3 cm high. A shade of this size keeps its proportions over a table 80–90 cm wide, with the lower edge usually set 70–80 cm above the tabletop. The height is adjusted by the length of chain (182.9 cm supplied): from 54.3 to 237.2 cm from the ceiling to the bottom of the shade, so it suits both a low porch ceiling and a tall room.
The ceiling plate is 12.7 cm across and 1.9 cm deep. The pendant weighs 3.8 kg, so it has to hang from a hook or fixing rated for that weight.
Bulb and light
The fitting takes one E27 bulb of up to 60 W. No bulb is included, so you choose the colour temperature and brightness; the light comes out through the clear glass and the gaps in the weave. The maker states that the fitting is not dimmable, so it should not be connected to a dimmer.
Where it can hang
IP44 means protection against splashing water from any direction, and the maker specifies the pendant for exterior use — under the roof of a terrace, porch or gazebo. It works just as well indoors, for example over a dining table. It is a Class I fitting, so the supply cable at the mounting point must include an earth conductor; it runs on 220–240 V.
The Lindendale series also includes a version in an Antique White finish.
