Frigga 2150AL Aluminium LED Bollard Light by NORLYS

The Frigga 2150AL is a 50 cm garden bollard light. Its square column is a finely ribbed, powder-coated aluminium profile topped with a cube of crystal glass that is satin-finished on the inside. The LED module is built in.

How tall it is and how it is anchored

At 50 cm high on a 14 × 14 cm footprint, the lit cube sits at roughly knee height — the level at which a bollard marks the edge of a path or driveway rather than lighting the surroundings from above. It weighs 6.62 kg, so it stands firmly and is not a portable fitting.

The base has three ø9 mm holes spaced 120° apart on a ø65 mm circle. The ground anchor, the concreting anchor and the mounting adapter are separate Norlys articles and have to be bought as well. The terminals take conductors up to 5 × 2.5 mm² and allow a loop-through to the next fitting, so a row of bollards along a path runs off one supply. The luminaire is protection class I and therefore needs an earth connection.

How much light it gives

The light source is included, so no bulb has to be bought. The module draws 4.6 W and the complete luminaire 4.9 W, and the manufacturer states 322 lm at an efficacy of 65.7 lm/W. That is an accent figure — roughly two and a half times less light than an old 60 W incandescent bulb. The Frigga is meant to be seen in the garden, not to light the whole of it.

3000 K gives warm white light with a slightly yellow cast, and Ra 80 is the usual level for outdoor lighting. The ULOR figure is 85 %, so most of the flux leaves above the plane of the luminaire: the light spreads through the glass cube all around and upwards instead of pooling on the paving.

Control and servicing

The luminaire runs on DALI2. Dimming needs a DALI controller or gateway — the Frigga will not work on an ordinary phase dimmer. The electronic driver is built in and the manufacturer rates its life at 100,000 h.

Both the LED module and the control gear are replaceable by a professional. On a fitting anchored permanently in the ground, that decides whether a failure costs a component or the whole column.

Build and where it can stand

The body is an extruded, powder-coated aluminium profile with an EPDM cable gland. IP65 means protection against water jets and dust, IK06 against moderate impact, so the bollard can stand unsheltered: beside a terrace, along a driveway and next to a footpath. The manufacturer notes that the crystal glass may take on an amber tone over time.
