Issa Floor Lamp - 1 Light - Brushed Gold Elstead

Issa is a 155.6 cm Alora Mood floor lamp: a slim rod rises from a cylindrical base, flares into a trumpet shape at the bottom and carries a cylindrical ivory linen shade at the top. The aluminium and steel parts are finished in brushed gold. The lamp is distributed by Elstead Lighting.

How much space it takes

The base is 21.6 cm across and the shade 35.6 cm across and 25.4 cm tall — a free corner about 40 cm wide beside an armchair or sofa is enough. With a total height of 155.6 cm, the lower edge of the shade sits about 130 cm above the floor, above the head of someone seated. The lamp weighs 5.54 kg, which gives it a steady footing.

Which bulb and what light

There is one E27 socket for a bulb of up to 60 W. No bulb is supplied, so you choose colour and brightness yourself — for reading next to a chair around 800 lm (the old 60 W equivalent) at 2700–3000 K works well. The linen shade lets light through and diffuses it, and its open underside sends part of it down onto the chair and floor.

The lamp works with dimmable bulbs; it has no built-in dimmer, so you need a bulb labelled dimmable and a separate dimmer. It is a Class I fitting powered from a 230 V socket.

Which rooms it suits

The manufacturer lists the living room, bedroom, dining room and study. The simple outline of a gold rod and pale shade is a modernist form that matches the other Issa fittings — wall lights, pendant and table lamp in the same finish.
