Kolt is a bathroom wall light by Quoizel, distributed by Elstead Lighting, made of polished-chrome steel with a double glass shade. The inner cylinder of heavy glass is sand-blasted on the inside, so it diffuses the light, and it sits inside a second, clear glass cylinder. The shade rests on a curved arm that comes out of a rectangular wall plate.
Size and where to fit it
The wall light is 23.2 cm high and 12.7 cm wide, and it projects 18.6 cm from the wall. Compare that last figure with the distance to the edge of your mirror or cabinet — beside a narrow washbasin it decides whether the fitting gets in the way. It weighs 1.2 kg.
The IP44 rating means protection against water splashing from any direction, which is why the manufacturer specifies Kolt for bathrooms. It is a Class I fitting, so it has to be connected to the protective earth conductor.
Light source and brightness
One 3 W G9 LED lamp is included. It gives 300 lm at 3000 K, a warm white roughly equivalent to a 28 W incandescent bulb. That is a soft, supplementary level of light — in a bathroom a wall light like this is usually paired with a ceiling fitting rather than used on its own. The lamp is replaceable, and the manufacturer rates it at 25,000 hours, about 23 years at three hours a day.
The manufacturer lists the fitting as dimmable; for that you need a dimmer and a G9 lamp sold as dimmable.
The Kolt collection
Kolt is a minimalist range of bathroom lights in the same finish: besides this one it includes two- and three-light wall lights and a three-light semi-flush ceiling light. Over a wider mirror you can therefore combine several fittings with identical shades and the same chrome.
