LUMINES Design+ akin is an aluminium LED profile for recessed installation between plasterboard panels, with the adjoining surface finished in plaster. This black lacquered version, code 10-1415-20, measures 2020 mm in length. It is a component for building linear lighting rather than a ready-to-use luminaire with its own light source.
Plan the profile into the plasterboard
The overall cross-section is 74.1 mm wide and 23.4 mm high. Allow space for the side flanges as well as the channel that carries the LED strips. Compare these measurements with the panel layout and available construction space before closing the wall or ceiling.
Recessing the profile places the light line within the surface instead of adding a projecting light fitting. Installation therefore needs to be considered as part of the plasterboard work. This is not the same type of product as a surface profile attached to an already finished wall.
Two strips and a MIDI cover
The akin channel accommodates two LED strips, each up to 12 mm wide. The manufacturer specifies a MIDI cover and system-matched end caps. Check the akin designation and cover compatibility when choosing these components; a similar-looking profile is not enough to establish that its accessories fit.
Deeper placement of the strips is intended to support a more uniform light line. The finished appearance also depends on the particular strips and cover selected. The power supply is positioned outside the profile, so its location needs to be planned separately. Brightness, colour temperature and control functions come from the LED components used, not from the aluminium section itself.
A linear element for modern interiors
The manufacturer identifies both main and decorative lighting as uses for this system. It can form part of a plasterboard lighting design in a living room, bedroom, kitchen, dining area, hallway or office, with the complete installation specified for the intended task. Its straight, recessed form suits modern and minimalist interiors. Black lacquered is the finish of this exact version and should not be confused with the black anodized alternative.
