Norlys Astrid 2219GB LED garden bollard, beige grey, 55 cm, 3000 K

The Norlys Astrid 2219GB is a 55 cm garden bollard with a rounded-square cross-section of 14 × 14 cm. The body is an extruded aluminium profile with vertical ribs, powder-coated in beige grey. In the upper section, behind the ribs, sits an opal PMMA diffuser that lets out diffuse light, and a solid cap closes the top.

Installation and wiring

The bollard bolts to its base through three ø9 mm holes set 120° apart on a ø65 mm circle. The concrete anchor (index 205), ground anchor (206), concrete-foundation adapter (206S) and mounting adapter (3080GA) are sold separately, so you choose them to suit the ground.

The terminals take conductors up to 3×2.5 mm², and the gland takes a round cable up to 12.5 mm in diameter. The bollard can be looped through, so several fittings along a path run from one cable; the maker states that up to 96 of them fit on a B16 circuit breaker. It is a protection class I luminaire and needs a protective earth connection.

What light it gives

The LED module is built into the fitting, so there is no bulb to buy. It gives 3000 K warm white light with a colour rendering index of CRI 80. The luminaire draws 14.6 W and delivers 272 lm, which is guide lighting that marks a path, an entrance or the edge of a terrace rather than lighting a whole garden.

The bollard dims on a TRIAC phase dimmer of either type, trailing edge (TE) or leading edge (LE), so it works with both kinds of dimmer found in existing installations.

Durability and where it fits

IP65 means dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction, and IK10 is the highest impact-resistance class on that scale, which matters beside paths and driveways. The maker describes the design as modern. The bollard is intended for gardens, terraces, streetsides and driveways. The Astrid family also offers the same body at 2700 K and 4000 K and in an 85 cm height.
