Borg Bollard 6171GR is a 55 cm bollard light: a slim 76 mm column topped by a flat, round 20 cm canopy. Under the canopy sits a satin PMMA diffuser, and the body is cast aluminium powder-coated in graphite, RAL 7016. The light source is a built-in LED module with its driver.
How much light, and what kind
The 13.7 W module produces 2214 lm, and the whole fitting, drawing 16 W, emits 1396 lm. That is a lot for a bollard: the light covers the ground around the fitting rather than just marking where it stands. 4000 K is a neutral white under which paving and plants keep their natural colours, and CRI 80 with SDCM3 means an even tone from one bollard to the next. The canopy sends light around and downwards: ULOR is 0% and the BUG rating B1-U1-G0, so it does not shine into the sky or into windows.
The fitting dims on a phase dimmer, trailing edge (TE) or leading edge (LE). The LED module and the driver are replaced by a professional service. The maker states module lifetimes of L80 over 102,000 h and L90 over 52,600 h, and 50,000 h for the driver.
Mounting and power supply
No anchor is included; the options are the 202 ground anchor, the 203 concrete-in anchor and the 201 concrete-foundation adapter. The bollard weighs 2.38 kg. It is a protection class I fitting, so it must be connected to an earth conductor. The terminals take cable up to 3 × 4 mm² and allow the supply to loop through to the next fitting, and the gland takes cable from 8 to 12.5 mm in diameter.
On a longer row the inrush current matters — 2 A for 50 µs. The maker lists how many fittings one breaker can carry: B 10 A — 31, B 16 A — 50, C 10 A — 52, C 16 A — 58.
Where it fits
The maker intends Borg for gardens, private grounds and public areas, including the surroundings of hotels and restaurants. IP65 lets it stand in the open, and the IK08 impact rating protects it against an accidental knock. A plain column with a flat canopy is a modern form with no ornament. The Borg range also offers 35, 85 and 105 cm bollards and the 6170 version at 3000 K.
