Oslo 2014BD is a post-top luminaire, made to sit on the head of a lighting column. Its shade is built from several overlapping flat discs, under which a clear polycarbonate cylinder is fitted. The body is galvanised steel in a gold patina finish.
How it mounts and what is not in the box
The luminaire fixes through three ø10.5 mm holes set 120° apart on a ø207 mm circle. In the Norlys catalogue it is one half of a set whose other half is the lighting column — no column is included with this item and it has to be ordered separately, as do concreting and ground anchors.
No bulbs are included either. The luminaire takes two E27 lamps of up to 9 W each on a 230 V supply, so you choose the colour and brightness yourself: 2700 K gives warm, yellowish light, 4000 K neutral white.
Size and light distribution
The luminaire is 78 cm tall and 28.5 × 32 cm in plan — the height of the finished installation is counted from the column you choose, not from that figure. The shade alone is large enough to read as a separate element by a gate or at the edge of a driveway rather than as a point of light.
The upward light output ratio is 9.2%, so more than nine tenths of the flux goes sideways and down onto the surface. The discs shield the source from above without enclosing it — the light stays visible from the side, which gives the look of a lit lantern rather than a hidden floodlight.
Weather resistance and build
An IP55 rating means protection against dust and against water jets from any direction, so the luminaire can stand exposed all year. The cylinder is polycarbonate with a UV filter — that is what keeps the plastic from yellowing in sunlight as quickly as an unfiltered version would.
The luminaire is protection class II, double insulated, and needs no earth conductor. The Oslo series also includes a wall light, an outdoor ceiling light, a bollard and a complete set with its own column.
