Otis Ceiling Light - 1 Light Source - Matte Black Elstead

The Otis ceiling light from Alora Mood in matt black: a black canopy with a decorative fluted edge and a short neck hold a globe of shiny white opal glass just below the ceiling. The contrast between black metal and milky white globe is stronger here than in the gold version.

Size

The fitting is 24.8 cm high and the globe 20 cm across, so it takes up little room below the ceiling and does not lower the headroom the way a pendant would. At 0.82 kg it makes no special demands on the fixing.

Thanks to IP44 — protection against splashing water — the manufacturer also allows it in bathrooms. It is Class I and is wired with an earth conductor.

Light source

The globe holds one E27 socket for a bulb of up to 40 W, not included. The milky opal glass glows across its whole surface and hides the bulb, so the bulb's appearance does not matter. With a dimmable bulb the fitting can go on a dimmer.

The fluted canopy recalls older fittings while the smooth globe keeps things simple — a classic form with a vintage note. Otis also comes with a brushed gold canopy.
