Pickering Lane is a semi-flush ceiling light by Generation Lighting (Feiss), distributed by Elstead Lighting. A steel frame in a painted natural brass finish holds a rounded, jar-shaped shade of clear seeded glass, with three candle-style lampholders inside. It stands 42.7 cm tall and measures 25.4 cm across.
Close to the ceiling or hung on a chain
In its basic form the shade hangs on a short stem just below the ceiling, with a minimum drop of 41 cm — an option for rooms where a conventional pendant would hang too low. The box also contains 91.5 cm of chain: add it and the fitting becomes a pendant with a drop of up to 140.5 cm, intended for higher ceilings.
The light weighs 2.35 kg and is Class I, so it must be connected to the protective earth in the ceiling box. It is designed for indoor use.
Which bulbs and how much light
The three lampholders are E14 and take bulbs of up to 40 W each. No bulbs are included, so you need to buy three. The holders are shaped like candles, which is why clear candle bulbs suit them best; the manufacturer recommends a clear-glass E14 LED candle as the accessory. The glass is clear, so the bulbs stay visible and your choice of bulb decides how the light looks when it is switched on.
The fitting works with dimmable lamps: to control brightness you need dimmable E14 bulbs and a wall dimmer.
Finish and where it fits
The body, stem and ceiling pan are steel painted in a natural brass colour — a painted coating rather than solid brass. The air bubbles in the glass are intentional: they are the defining feature of seeded glass, not a flaw.
The style is classic with a rustic, farmhouse character, built by the jar shape, the candle holders and the ball finial beneath the shade. The manufacturer intends it for bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways. The Pickering Lane range offers the same fitting in black, heritage bronze and polished nickel as well.
