Pickering Lane is a semi-flush ceiling light by Feiss (Generation Lighting), distributed by Elstead Lighting: a black steel frame with a single bell-shaped shade of clear seeded glass holding three candle-style lampholders. A black turned finial closes the bottom of the shade. The collection draws on Northern European country farmhouses of the early 1900s.
Size and two ways to hang it
The fitting is 25.4 cm in diameter and 42.7 cm high. As a semi-flush it hangs on a short rod just below the ceiling, and with the 91.5 cm chain it can be lowered — the drop ranges from 41 to 140.5 cm. The short version suits rooms of standard height, while the longer drop suits higher ceilings, where a light right at the ceiling would sit too far from what it needs to light.
It weighs 2.35 kg and is for indoor use. It is a Class I fitting, so it must be connected to the protective earth conductor. It runs on 230 V mains.
Lamps and light
The three E14 lampholders take lamps of up to 40 W each. Lamps are not included — you need to buy three. The shade is clear, so the lamps stay on show and their shape becomes part of the look; the manufacturer shows it with filament-style candle lamps.
Seeded glass is not a frosted diffuser: with clear lamps you see their bright points, and the bubbles add reflections. The fitting is compatible with dimmable lamps — to dim it you need lamps marked as dimmable and a dimmer.
Style and intended rooms
This is a rustic style in a classic form: a bell-shaped seeded glass shade, candle-style holders and black metal with turned details. It is intended for bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways. The same model is also available in Heritage Bronze, Painted Natural Brass and Polished Nickel.
