Nidaros 2125 is an outdoor ceiling light shaped as a cylinder 12 cm in diameter and 23 cm high. The body is cast aluminium powder-coated in black (RAL 9005), closed at the bottom by a clear safety-glass cover behind which a silver reflector is visible.
What light it gives
The luminaire draws 8.5 W and emits 825 lm at 4000 K, a neutral white. It shines downwards only, in a 24° beam: a narrow, sharply cut cone that, from the 2.5 m height Norlys uses for its photometry, makes a pool of light about one metre across on the ground. A fitting like this marks a point, for example in front of a door or beside a pillar, rather than lighting a whole terrace. A ULOR of 0% means no light leaves above the fitting.
The flicker figures, Pst LM ≤0.4 and SVM ≤0.1, mean the light shows neither visible flicker nor a stroboscopic effect. It can be phase-dimmed with either a trailing-edge (TE) or a leading-edge (LE) dimmer, so it works with newer RC dimmers as well as older RL ones.
Light source and service life
The light comes from a built-in Philips Fortimo LED module with an electronic driver, so there is no bulb to buy. The module and driver are not disposable, though: Norlys provides for their replacement by a professional service. The module is rated L70 above 50,000 h and the driver 50,000 h.
Installation
The fitting fixes to a ceiling, soffit or canopy through two mounting holes. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², and the round-sheathed supply cable should be 7–10.5 mm in diameter. Fittings can be looped together with conductors up to 1.5 mm², so several under one eave run from a single line. It is a protection class I luminaire and needs a protective earth. IP65 means a dust-tight housing that withstands water jets, so it needs no extra cover. The 3084 mounting spacer is sold separately.
Norlys intends Nidaros for horizontal surfaces and for lighting walls and facades, and the plain cylinder without ornament is a modern form suited to the entrance of a house, hotel or restaurant.
