The Asker Big Pro 5080BL is an outdoor wall light shaped as a rectangular box, 30.2 cm wide, 12.5 cm high and 12.1 cm deep. The body is powder-coated cast aluminium in black (RAL 9005); the top and bottom light openings are closed by clear, textured, UV-stabilised polycarbonate on a silicone gasket.

How it spreads the light

It lights in two directions, one beam up and one down, drawing two bands of light on the wall above and below the body. The manufacturer intends it for lighting walls and facades. Its BUG rating of B0-U4-G0 means a strong upward component without glare, so check what is above the spot first: an eave, window or balcony will catch some of it.

Drawing 13.3 W, the light delivers 1186 lm, more than an old 60 W incandescent bulb. 3000 K is warm white, and a CRI of 80 is enough for an entrance, a terrace or a facade. The LED module and the driver are built in, so there is no bulb to buy. The LED module and driver are replaceable by a professional service, with separate service kits listed.

DALI-2 control

The driver works on DALI-2. Dimming needs a DALI installation – a controller or a building management system; an ordinary phase-cut dimmer cannot stand in for it.

Durability and installation

IP65 means a dust-tight housing that withstands water jets from any direction, so the light can hang on an exposed wall. IK08 is impact resistance up to 5 J, useful along walkways. The plain, box-shaped body without ornament suits modern architecture: a house facade, a balcony, a garden wall, and the frontage of hotels and restaurants.

The light weighs 2.62 kg. It is screwed on through an intermediate plate with two 5 × 10 mm adjustment slots at 45 mm spacing, or directly through two ø5 mm holes at 68 mm spacing. It is a Class I fitting, so it needs a protective earth conductor. The terminals take conductors up to 3 × 2.5 mm², the gland takes a round cable 7–10.5 mm in diameter, and the supply can be looped on to the next fitting (up to 3 × 1.5 mm²). For longer runs mind the 20 A inrush current: the manufacturer allows at most 10 fittings per B 10 A breaker, 30 per B 16 A, 31 per C 10 A and 51 per C 16 A.
